A podcast about religion for basically anyone. Do Christians really think Jesus rode dinosaurs? What's the best time for my teenager to get really into Buddhism? I like science, can I still believe in God? What's with all the sexism in religion? Who decided what went into the Bible, and why? Yoga, stretching, spirituality, all of the above? Whether you grew up a secular humanist or spent every Sunday planted in a church pew coloring on the attendance cards, we've got you covered.
Rev. Brian Boettcher
Rev. Garrett Rocha
Garrett Rocha is a local pastor of Limona Village Chapel in Brandon Florida. He has been a pastor in the Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church for the past 5 years. He has a passion for Fresh Expressions and community based ministries. Garrett enjoys many forms of literature, art, and pop culture and often uses them during sermons and small group studies to connect scripture with life today. When he is not serving at the church, Garrett can be found spending time with his wife Laurel and their border collie Ace. They love to play board games with friends, experiment in the kitchen, and spend time gardening.
Rev. Sara Relaford
Sara is a 2nd-career pastor and from-the-cradle United Methodist. Sara was born in Texas and has deep roots there, but she lived most of her life in Atlanta, GA until she moved to South Carolina after seminary. She is currently working on her doctorate of ministry in biblical interpretation and proclamation at Candler School of Theology because she can't stay away from theological education. Sara will argue with you that Greek is math and biblical Hebrew is art, and might just doodle some random Hebrew words she remembers on meeting notes. She is married to podcast celebrity Jon Hoin and for years they have aspired to get corresponding tattoos; Jon's will be of Karl Barth and Sara's will be of Bart Simpson and this is largely what you need to know about them as a couple.
Sara's other interests include painting, Aaron Sorkin dialogue, furry animals, naming things, breakfast tacos, Muppets, cooking (but not baking), and she is trying to learn more sign language. She is an Enneagram 9w1 and consequently will not correct you if you add an "h" to her name, but if she knows you well she will reply by adding an "h" to your name and then wonder if you're mad at her.
Rev. Jon Hoin
Jon is a United Methodist Pastor in Elloree, South Carolina. At the end of college, he decided he should probably make an effort to do some good with his life, and he figured that a good place to do that would be in the church. So he went off to Candler School of Theology at Emory University, and when he couldn't get enough theology, he went back to get another masters degree at Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary. Ever since he was young, Jon was fascinated by world religions and religious ritual which is good because he is married to the amazing Sara Relaford, who has very strong opinions about a variety of nerdy religious topics (re: Greek and Hebrew).
Jon's other interests include Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Kendo, and Kickboxing: nature, hiking, and canoeing also provide outlets for his wanderlust. His longtime passion for Evolutionary Biology causes him to over-analyze the behaviors of the family cats and dog. If you can't find him at the gym or in the woods, then he's probably playing some overly complicated board game in a poorly lit room or reading science, science fiction, and fantasy literature.
